Milford floors, from the village to the township roads

Milford is two places in one. The village is about 6,500 people around a historic downtown where Pettibone Creek meets the Huron River. Milford Township wraps around it with about 17,000 people, larger lots and part of Kensington Metropark and Kent Lake. We're Poly Pro's Coatings, a Howell company, and a garage floor coating in Milford can mean a tidy one-car garage on a village street or a detached shop on a few acres.

Milford is also the home of the GM Milford Proving Ground, where vehicles get driven hard on purpose. We have no connection to it, but the idea fits our work. A floor should be tested by real use, and ours are made to take it: hot tires, dropped tools, road salt, snowblowers and the jack stand you forgot about.

What makes our floor hold up

Most of a floor's life is decided before any color goes down. We diamond grind the slab so the base coat can bite in. We cut out even hairline cracks and stitch them, then fill cracks, pits and joints with polygrout. Shark fins along the walls get knocked down and the edge gets an even scrape. Then comes a polyurea base, a full broadcast of polymer flake and a polyaspartic topcoat. The product gives us 15 to 18 minutes of working time once it's mixed, which is why our installers are trained in house on this exact system. Read more about our garage coating system.

Big garages and shops on township lots

Township properties often have a three-car garage plus a pole barn or workshop. We coat those with the same system and can build custom flake blends for shop and commercial work. Concrete block or curb that runs a few inches up the garage wall can be coated in too, and coated steps into the house finish the job. Our shop and pole barn floors page covers the larger slabs.

Village basements near the water

Older village homes have basements of every age and condition, and any basement slab can hold moisture. We check every basement slab first and won't coat a wet one. If it's damp, we dry it out with grinding, acetone, fans and time, or we move the date. That's the one thing that will push a coating off a floor, so we don't gamble on it. See our basement floor coatings.

New homes going up

The village has approved new single-family homes and townhomes in recent years. If you're in a new build, coating the garage before the first winter is the least prep and the lowest price, and the slab never gets a chance to pit.
